 Some teacher reflection questions

Q. Daniel is influenced in his work by nineteenth century furniture makers, by other designers and contemporary makers. In your creative process, from where do you draw your influences?

Q. Daniel speaks about creativity as being a process of bringing out the beauty in the material you are using and bringing something unique to it yourself. In relation to your own creative process do you agree with this? Why/Why not?

Q. In making a piece for a client, Daniel tells us that he sometimes has to try things he is unfamiliar with and to challenge himself in order to expand his skill set. Can you think of ways in which you challenge yourself and try new things in order to expand your skill set? Can you think of any other strategies that might help you to develop your skills?

Q. Daniel speaks about having huge respect for wood as a material and about the possibilities that are latent in a tree. When creating a piece of work, what possibilities do you see in the materials you use?  How do you show respect for the materials you use so that they are used creatively and sustainably?
