Kildare Youth Theatre - connecting a production with the English language classroom
Kildare Youth Theatre staged a production of Macbeth by William Shakespeare in the Moat Theatre in May 2013. In this series of short videos you can learn about the experience from the people involved: the youth theatre members, their English teachers, and their director. You can also view a short film made by Kildare Youth Theatre based on one of the scenes in their production.
The content here relates to senior cycle students and a play that is often studied for the Leaving Certificate. Nonetheless, we encourage you to watch these short videos to identify the key skills and creative exploration of language developed by students who are engaged in a rich artistic process. In Junior Cycle, schools might choose to offer a short course in drama or filmmaking with cross-curricular links with English (drama extracts or prescribed plays).
